ABOUT

Korean Latin Grammy-winning violinist and composer Sita Chay (Flor de Toloache, Miss Saigon) created a passionate musical project in solidarity with immigrants and DREAMers.  Alongside German immigrant, guitarist and composer Sebastian Noelle (Darcy James Argue’s Secret Society, Shelter), they reached out to other New York based colleagues to form an all-immigrant band.

Cosmopolis Collective  will release a world music history-telling multi-media project, with musicians,  and composers  of diverse cultural backgrounds. They will take mass audiences on a musical and visual journey, depicting the convergence of different cultures united in solidarity. This project examines how string and percussion instruments influence the music of various musical traditions and how new sounds are created as people travel from one country to another, while trying to escape oppression.

How did middle-eastern and African music influence indigenous music in the Caribbean? What was the result of that fusion? What are our similarities, not only musically, but on a human level? What will it sound like when a touch of contemporary flair, say hip-hop is incorporated?

Stay tuned!
